I don't have any specific ideas but I recently wrote a book and thought I'd mention this: there are two main popular routes - firstly researching latin or foreign names for similar things and then splicing the words together. This makes you sound very learned and clever.
The second is to simply base the names on how each animal makes you feel inside.

Although, thinking about it, the best way is probably to think about who the people are who named them in your fictional world:
